My last Duchess My last Duchess, by Robert Browning is a melodramatic monologue of the Duke of Ferrara. The poem starts off with the Duke negotiating his next marriage with an cistron after being recently widowed. As the Duke gives the visitor a tour of his house, he stops at a usage forcetal picture of the last duchess and begins reminiscing about her.
